Learn the Opportunities that Come With Being a Physician Assistant

Learn the Opportunities that Come With Being a Physician Assistant

Choosing to go after a career as a physician assistant in the health care industry is great due to the fact that this is one of America’s fastest growing jobs. You probably already know this, but if you don’t then now you know that this is a great career. Some of the important things about being a physician assistant is the fact that there can be as many as six different specialties that you can take on as a PA. These specialties are dermatology, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, family medicine, geriatrics, and they can even specialize in surgery.

All of these specialties can be chosen from, and if surgery is what you’re interested in then you can work in a surgery doing small surgeries or the big ones. If you like diagnosing and treating the skin then dermatology would be the logical choice. If you are a physician assistant who is going after their master’s degree, it won’t mean that you are a physician it just means that you have a higher education which may impact your salary. When you take on this career, its very possible that you are going to have more than one job.

There are many physician assistants who work two jobs all at once. In fact, most of them get employed in an actual hospital and at the same time they are employed at a walk in clinic.

Some times they are also going to attend schools on scheduled dates and some of them aren’t going to be able to work while they are enrolled at school. PAs aren’t going to be able to work two jobs while they are getting a double degree from the physician assistant school.

Here in 2011, right now the average salary for a PA is ranging from $ 75,000 to $ 80,000, but there are many PAs who have specialties and they make up to $ 100,000 a year. The number of men and women who are expected to be employed as a physician assistant in the coming years is expected to rise dramatically. They are also expected to be working in rural areas and inner cities where there is a serious shortage of doctors.

These areas always have a shortage of doctors due to the fact that they aren’t paid to much, and due to the fact that PAs can perform tasks that a doctor could they are a real valued member of the health care team. Getting a job as a PA isn’t the hard part, its about making sure you are qualified to work as one.
